Puri’s Jagannath temple is the eastern seat of Adi Shankaracharya’s Char Dham. Jagannath, with Balabhadra and Subhadra, represents a distinctive form of Vishnu–Krishna devotion rooted in Odisha’s temple culture. Within the same complex, Goddess Vimala is venerated as a Shakti Peetha (feet of Sati in peetha lists).
