॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥
वट सावित्री व्रत कथा — मौलिक कथा–पुनर्कथन।
राजकुमारी सावित्री ने सत्यवान को पति चुना — जानते हुए कि एक वर्ष में उनकी आयु पूर्ण होगी। यह अज्ञान नहीं, साहस था।
निर्धारित दिन सत्यवान वन में मुर्छित हुए। यम जी प्राण लेकर चले। सावित्री पैदल पीछे रहीं — रोष नहीं, धर्म की बातें करते हुए।
यम ने वर दिए: श्वसुर का राज्य और दृष्टि, वंश के पुत्र। सावित्री ने चतुराई से वरों की शृंखला ऐसी माँगी कि सत्यवान के बिना वर पूरे न हों। यम ने प्रसन्न हो प्राण लौटाए।
कथा कहती है — प्रेम जो विवेक संग चले, मृत्यु का भी संवाद सुनता है। वट वृक्ष पर धागा दीर्घ आश्रय का चिह्न है।
