॥ श्री रामचन्द्राय नमः ॥
राम नवमी व्रत कथा — मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम का प्राकट्य।
अयोध्या में राजा दशरथ पुत्रहीन थे। ऋषि श्रृंगी के यज्ञ से दिव्य पायस प्राप्त हुआ। कौसल्या, कैकेयी और सुमित्रा ने उसे ग्रहण किया।
चैत्र शुक्ल नवमी को मध्यान्ह में कौशल्या के गर्भ से श्रीराम का जन्म हुआ। उसी दिन भरत, लक्ष्मण और शत्रुघ्न भी अवतरित हुए।
वाल्मीकि रामायण और रामचरितमानस में राम की कथा है — गुरु वशिष्ठ का शिक्षण, विश्वामित्र यज्ञ-रक्षा, सीता स्वयंवर, वनवास, रावण-वध और अयोध्या-पदागमन।
राम नवमी उसी जन्म-तिथि का उत्सव है। भक्त उपवास रखते हैं, रामकथा सुनते हैं और मंदिरों में विशेष अभिषेक-आरती होती है।
व्रत विधि: प्रातः स्नान-संकल्प। राम नाम जप, सुंदरकाण्ड/रामचरितमानस पाठ। मंदिर में दर्शन अथवा घर पर राम-सीता-लक्ष्मण-हनुमान पूजा।
मध्याह्न जन्म-समय पर आरती और 「श्री रामचन्द्र कृपालु」 भजन। सात्त्विक भोजन या फलाहार से पारण।
दान, तुलसी सेवा और सत्य-वचन इस व्रत के विशेष अंग माने जाते हैं — क्योंकि राम स्वयं धर्म की प्रतिमूर्ति हैं।
फलश्रुति: राम नवमी व्रत से कुल-कल्याण, मन की शुद्धि, भय-नाश और भक्ति की प्राप्ति होती है।
जो ‘जय श्री राम’ कहते हुए नवमी मनाते हैं, उनके जीवन में मर्यादा और शांति आती है।
